From one adventure to the next
While the seniors may have played in their last football game as Beavers, their
life adventure has truly just begun. One player who has become a fan favorite
over the years is Portland native Taylor Kavanaugh who has graduated with his
degree in Construction Engineering Management.
His journey to Oregon State as a football player is not like many of his peers.
Kavanaugh was not a highly recruited athlete out of high school and he made
his mark as walk-on.
As many players before him have shown, Coach Riley and the Oregon State staff
truly do give walk-on's a chance. They aren't just 'practice players' and with
hard work and perseverance, sometimes they are rewarded for their hard work.
"I chose to come to Oregon State because of the opportunity the coaching
staff gave me, and OSU's wonderful engineering program," Kavanaugh told
BeaverBlitz. "I can say with confidence that both aspects lived up to,
and beyond, my expectations."
Kavanaugh's worth to the football program may not be in tallying big numbers,
but he has been an invaluable member of the special teams unit with his sure
hands and holding ability.
