Wheelwright collecting offers, staying open to all
It's plain to see that Nebraska is focusing on signing some talent out of Big Ten country this year. One of the prospect that Nebraska is after is Columbus (Ohio) Walnut Ridge wide receiver Rob Wheelwright.
Wheelwright is one of more highly regarded wide receivers in the state of Ohio this year. The well rounded play of the 6-foot-2, 185-pound pass catcher has netted him close to double-digit offers so far, including one from the Huskers.
""Yes sir Nebraska has offered me," Wheelwright said. "They offered me a while back. It was when they came to visit my school, before signing day of this past year."
Growing up in Columbus, Ohio one would assume that he is waiting on the hometown school to offer him a scholarship. Wheel insists that he is open to other schools though and that he is enjoying the process.
"I'm pretty open right now but I have some interest in Nebraska, you can only have so much contact though," Wheelwright said. "I've been meaning to call the coach a couple of days ago.
"I'm enjoying the process; it's going pretty good actually. I don't really have any top schools right now."
Wheelwright said that he is starting to look at dates where he will be able to visit schools that are recruiting him. However, at this point in time he only knows of one school that he will for sure be able to visit.
I'm going to Ohio State, going to see them this spring since its close," Wheelwright said. "I haven't really scheduled anything else out yet. I need to see the dates."
Wheelwright said that while he remains open to everyone recruiting him at this point there is one thing in particular that he is looking for.
"Probably academics is the most important thing right now."
