As they get ready for the Chick-fil-A Bowl, the situation is not any different because head coach Mark Richt has suspended two players Ian Smith and Seth Watts for the bowl game due to off the field issues.
"When guys do not meet our expectations they will be disciplined for it, but they will be fine and be back," said Richt of the two suspended linemen.
This is not the first time in the Mark Richt era the Bulldogs have been shorthanded on the offensive line and Georgia will face the No. 14 ranked Virginia Tech Hokies with only six scholarship offensive linemen and one walk-on backup lineman.
"Unfortunately we have had about five medical disqualifications from mostly shoulder injuries. We had a guy that had diabetes on the front end and could not play (Antonio Mercier). Early on we had guys we thought could come in and they could not play and had to go to prep school, said Richt of the offensive line situation. "We have had a little bit of everything including one or two transfers"
Georgia had three players that were slated to join the team in 2006 end up at Hargrave Military Academy.
