Big offer for big tackle

There are three sizes when it comes to Division I offensive line prospects. There are big guys, there are huge guys, and then there is Neal Deiters. The mammoth offensive tackle from Elmhurst (Ill.) York stands 6-foot-9 and weighs 342 pounds, a size that makes him stick out like a sumo wrestler at an anorexia therapy group.

Deiters would dwarf most college or professional players, let alone the many high school defensive lineman that routinely give away 100-plus pounds when lining up across from him. In fact, if you put Deiters on Northwestern's roster right now, he would be an inch taller and 27 pounds heavier than Dylan Thiry, the Wildcats' reigning behemoth at left tackle.

Northwestern was the latest college to ante up with an offer, and that put Northwestern in Deiter's top five, along with Michigan, Penn State, Purdue and Virginia, which has also offered him a full ride.
