CHAVEZ GRANT Q&A

Q: Virginia and Virginia Tech lost last week. Is that even more than you could have asked for in a bye week?

Grant: It kind of works in our favor having a couple of loses in the conference. We have to win out in order to play in the ACC Championship. We control our own destiny (now), so that was a good thing. (The bye) gave us time to heal.

Q: What's it like practicing again after getting three full days off over the weekend?

Grant: A couple of guys felt a little rusty, a couple felt fresh. I felt a little of both. I felt rusty but also spent my time off pretty well getting my body rested. Everyone came back feeling a little different.

Q: Did the bye come at a bad time because maybe you lose some of the momentum after beating FSU?

Grant: I don't think so. Coming off the win we felt maybe we have to humble ourselves with the break, have a little competition against just each other, prepare for NC State and get a little break at the same time. We played a full seven, eight weeks straight coming off the summer. Some guys might heave felt it came at a bad time, breaking our momentum from two games we just won. People feel differently.

Q: What are your thoughts on NC State?

Grant: They're a great team. They played a lot of great teams, just beat Virginia. We're going to prepare every week like they're the best team we're going to play.

Q: What's your mindset with four games left?
