July 2, 2012Patrick Dougherty has pretty much narrowed his favorites to two.
For Boston College fans, though, it isn't great news since the Eagles did not make the cut for the Aurora, Ohio, weak-side defensive end.
"I think I have it down to Indiana or Ohio University at this point," Dougherty said. "I just took a visit to both of those pretty recently and I think I could have my decision within the next couple weeks.
"Indiana I like academically. I'm probably going to major in business and it's a well-renowned program. The facilities are great and I like the coaching staff.
"With Ohio, I like the atmosphere there and I like the campus. I like the coaching staff as well. They're a prominent school and I really like it there. I have to research a little more and then I could make a decision."
Dougherty, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound prospect, said he was excited to receive his offer from Boston College but that the distance played a big factor in his decision.
When he figured out how far of a drive it was from his home to the Boston College campus, Dougherty said he made it pretty clear the Eagles weren't going to be high on his list.
"They offered me in May and I think they realized pretty early on I probably wasn't leaning toward them because it's a long distance away," Dougherty said.
"It's a 10-hour drive for me so I'd have to fly back and forth to get home so I wasn't thinking about them too hard."
In total, the Ohio standout lists offers from Akron, Ball State, Boston College, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Indiana, Miami (Ohio), Ohio and Toledo.
