November 1, 2012When USC welcomes Pac-12 foe Oregon to Los Angeles this weekend in front of a sold-out crowd, it will be the most expensive meeting between these two teams in the history of the rivalry series. In fact, the current resale ticket is fetching $193.01 on the secondary market, making it the second most expensive college football game this weekend.
The $193.01 price tag means tickets to the event are up $90 or 89% from the most recent time these two teams met in Los Angeles in 2010. Additionally, they are nearly $40 or 26% pricier than last year's showdown in Eugene, Oregon.
This marquee matchup-almost $83 more expensive than the average USC home game-is unquestionably one of the hottest tickets for the Trojan squad this season. It is furthermore primed to become the second most expensive ever played at the Coliseum. Only tickets to this year's final home contest against Notre Dame will average more on the secondary market ($219 average). To further contextualize the data, tickets to previous big-ticket games, including last year's matchups against Stanford and UCLA, ran for $122.67 and $139.40 respectively.
As it stands, the most expensive ticket to Saturday's game is an astronomical $2752 seat in Section 6 Row 6. Fortunately, there are more reasonable alternatives available-including a $54 ticket in Section 1 Row 83. As the event draws nearer, prices are expected to dip 10-15%, particularly in the 24-hour period leading up to kickoff.
