Rosenberg (Texas) Terry Rivals100 wide receiver Derrick Griffin was one of the first prospects to commit to the Texas A&M Aggies. Since then the pass catcher has had the joy of watching the Aggies soar to new highs under first-year head coach Kevin Sumlin.
"It's been good," Griffin said. "They've been doing real well, and if they keep doing what they're doing we can add on to it."
Griffin has stayed in communication with coach Clarence McKinney, and when he does make it to College Station he makes sure to talk to the Aggies' basketball coaches.
While the potential visit may make some nervous, Griffin feels good about his commitment to the Aggies. In fact, over the past year, he feels it has grown stronger.
"It's closer to my family so they can come watch me play, and I've been committed for a long time and feel like everyone is family now," Griffin said. "I like it."
Griffin is ranked No. 41 in the Rivals250 and No. 3 among the nation's wide receivers. He is one of five Texas A&M commits in San Antonio for the Army All-American Bowl, and he is looking forward to teaming with fellow Texas A&M wide receiver commit Ricky Seals-Jones.
