Sark gets first big commit
USC head coach Steve Sarkisian got his first big commitment Wednesday when he locked up assistant coach Tee Martin in cardinal and gold for the foreseeable future.
Martin, who coaches wide outs for USC, is excited about the new era of Trojan football.
"First, I thank Coach Sarkisian for giving me an opportunity to stay on at USC," said Martin. "We met today and he asked me if I'd like to be a part of his new staff.
"I told him, 'Heck yeah I do.'
"I love USC and I think we're going to do some great things here. Coach Sarkisian has a great plan and our system is going to be really exciting. I can't wait, man."
Martin had been rumored to be talking with UCLA about a potential job offer, but those rumors had no validity.
"No, everyone knows how I feel about USC and what we can do here," said Martin. "I have a tremendous group of receivers to work with here. Those guys are really my main focus.
"This university is special, and I'm so happy to get a chance to stay and continue to build the program."
USC has two wide outs coming off of ACL surgery in Steven Mitchell and George Farmer in 2014 that were both considered among the best in the nation coming out of high school.
In addition to that, USC welcomes back the talents of Nelson Agholor and Darreus Rodgers. Both receivers stepped up significantly when junior Marqise Lee went down with a knee sprain mid season.
While Martin is excited about what USC will do next year under new head coach Steve Sarkisian, the tireless recruiter is not resting on his laurels.
Lee, who is eligible for the NFL Draft this spring, is Martin's biggest recruit.
"Marqise is just focused on getting ready for this bowl game right now," said Martin. "No one knows what he is going to do. It's really too early to really think about that for him.
"I can tell you this, he's my first priority on the recruiting trail. Marqise is a six star recruit for USC right now."
