David enjoyed 'enthusiasm' at Texas Tech
Rockdale (Texas) inside linebacker, and current Texas Tech commit, Derek David has had a busy few weeks visiting campuses around Texas.
David was at the Texas Tech and University of Texas game and he plans to attend the Red River Rivalry this weekend. He said he is excited to go on this visit and he had a good time in Lubbock.
"It was good," David said. "I met the coaches again and watched the Raider Walk, met the other recruits and then watched the game."
David, at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds has some time to think about his college choice. He has been listening to other programs and said he is being pursued pretty hard by Texas, OU, UCLA, Ohio State, Alabama, and still talks to Texas Tech constantly.
"I talk to the Tech coaches like every day almost," David said. "Coach Tommy Mainord and then Coach James Willis is the coach that wants me."
David said he has a good relationship with both of those coaches and each brings something different to the table.
"Coach Willis is a cool dude and he came from Alabama the year that they won the national championship, and he seems like a father figure," Davis said. "Coach Mainord seems like a cool dude; a coach you can joke around with."
At his visit to Lubbock, David said he noticed that although Tech does not have the biggest stadium in the Big 12, their fans do bring enthusiasm to it.
"Everybody is saying that Texas and A&M have the biggest stadiums and they are right," David said, "but Texas Tech brings the same enthusiasm as both of those stadiums."
Aside from Texas Tech, David also holds offers from Alabama, Baylor, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, UCLA, and USC.
