Offer to Kamara makes Nkemdiche happy

David Kamara left Ole Miss two weeks ago impressed with what he saw and liking what he heard.

On Wednesday, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback found himself liking the Rebels even more.

Kamara picked up his first scholarship offer Wednesday when Ole Miss assistants Chris Kiffin and Wesley McGriff informed the Loganville (Grayson), Ga., standout he was wanted in Oxford.

"I was excited," Kamara said. "I was very excited. I was very happy.

"I liked it when I went up there. I liked the enthusiasm the coaches had about changing the program, not just in the SEC but in nationally. They were very positive. I really liked that. I was hoping they'd offer me."

One of the first calls Kamara made when he got off the phone with the Ole Miss coaches was to his high school teammate, five-star defensive end Robert Nkemdiche.

"He's real excited for me," Kamara said, referring to the nation's top-rated prospect. "That's my best friend. He was happy for me. Ole Miss is pretty high with him too."

Nkemdiche told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Wednesday that Ole Miss has "a great chance of getting both of us to sign there. My brother (freshman safety Denzel Nkemdiche) is at Ole Miss, and now David can go with me. ...That's a big, big, big, big, big plus for Ole Miss. I'm really happy about all this."

Nkemdiche, who visited Ole Miss with Kamara last month, told the AJC his top five, in no particular order, remains Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, Clemson and LSU. Both Nkemdiche and Kamara are planning a return trip to Clemson this weekend. Kamara is expecting to land an offer from the Tigers shortly as well.

Ole Miss, Kamara said, said Wednesday the speedy cornerback has "the ability to start three years. They said it's all up to me."

Kamara said he'll return to Oxford no later than early June for a one-day camp. He wouldn't rule out making an early decision after that trip.

"I just want to see," Kamara said.
