Florida WR forging new ties

Ryan Day had been recruiting Dionte Taylor before he left Boston College for another job and that introduced some uncertainty for the Florida wide receiver.

Taylor is an important recruit for Boston College. The 6-foot, 165-pound receiver recently admitted the Eagles were his favorite, but some of that was due to relationship he had built with the former assistant coach.

It didn't take long for a new recruiter from BC to reach out to Taylor. Fortunately for the Eagles it doesn't look like they've slipped.

"Recently I spoke with Coach (Sean) Desai and I guess he's my new recruiting coordinator. He called my coach and told him to have me give him a call. I talked to him and I talked to the receivers coach (Aaron Smith).

"They were basically reaffirming that I have an offer from them. He told me when he came in I was one of the top guys on the board. He looked at my film and liked it so he said he's going to keep me as one of their top targets. He gave me more information about the school and talked about trying to get me up there."

Taylor said the Eagles are still in great shape.

"They're still a school I'm really, really interested in," he noted. "They're one of my favorites.

"I also like the coach from UMass and I like Michigan State. My coach said he would give Ohio State a call and a lot of the other Big Ten schools, too. I was getting attention from Nebraska and I still like Florida."

Taylor may be attending Florida State's spring game with one of his teammates.

While BC is one of Taylor's favorites he will probably need to visit the school if they are to remain near the top of his list. Not to worry, Taylor said.

"I'm hoping I can get up there for their spring game or sometime before my officials," he concluded.
