QB Ty Griffin chimes in on offer from Army

In their quest to find that special quarterback to run their triple option offense, it's not unusual to see Army and Navy, along with the likes of Georgia Tech and Air Force to bump into one another when it comes to identifying such talent.

One player that has caught the attention of at least 3/4 is 6-foot-0, 185 pound signal caller Ty Griffin.

The Kennesaw (Ga) McEachem High School prospect is currently holding offers from two of the three academies, with Army and Navy showing their level interest where both offers coming approximately four weeks ago.

"I'm very interested in Army, as well as Navy," says Griffin, who indicated that he had an opportunity to converse with Army's defense tackle coach. "I spoke to Coach Holmes two days ago and we were just talking about what has been happening with me over the summer. Also about me coming up to visit West Point this summer."

Speaking of summer, Griffin made it clear that his is attempting to balance his recruiting with preparing for his senior campaign. "This summer consist of a full fledge work out program, with lifting, running and passing drills," offers the dual threat quarterback, who shared this scouting reporting on his talents.

"I'm a pocket pass first and then I like to run if it's not there," he adds. "We run a few different offenses. We run the spread, the piston and we do a little wing-t type thing, but I am most comfortable in the spread."

Along with hearing from coaches and maintaining his workout regiment, Griffin want to ensure that coaches are able to evaluate him beyond the scouting reports and/or highlight videos. "I plan on attending camps Georgia Tech, NC State and I'm going to a camp/visit to Navy," says the swift quarterback. "Those are the three that I'm planning to attend and I have said to Coach Holmes that I want to come up to Army this summer, but no date has been established yet."

In addition to football, Griffin has excelled in track where his main event is the high jump. This past season he qualified for the state meet and jumped a PR of 6'4" that placed him 8th overall in the state.

The Georgia produce who has been recorded with a personal best of 4.47 in the forty said that three components that he is hoping to find when selecting a college.

"I'm looking for a school with a great education, good football program and I'm looking to stay on the East Coast," says Griffin who listed a few other programs that have reached out to him.

"I'm hearing from Georgia Tech, NC State, Georgia Southern. Also Vanderbilt is looking at me too, but I don't want to go there."
