Blitz Quicks - June recruiting update

Last summer Oregon State charged out of the recruiting gates. Blue chips recruits like Malik Gilmore, Issac Seumalo, and Cleveland Wallace were Beavers when Nike's The Opening kicked-off. This year it's a different story, but don't bet against them yet.


Beaver Nation is scratching its head. BeaverBlitz.com Publisher Angie Machado summed these concerns by presenting the fact that Oregon State is now the last BCS program to have a commitment.

There are numerous reasons programs want a fast start. Recruits use social networks and camps to recruit each other, and that has an impact on where their peers may attend school.

The Beavers also brought Rod Perry to coach the secondary. Perry is a strong teacher but doesn't have a recruiting background.

It will take him time to adjust to college football and connect with high school athletes and coaches. His predecessor Keith Heyward left for the University of Washington and Heyward was established on the West Coast.
