In-state QB has five on top
Auburn has a commitment from Carver (Montgomery, Ala.) quarterback Jeremy Johnson, but doesn't appear to be done at the position as it continues to pursue another in-state quarterback prospect in McGill-Toolen's Jason Smith.
Smith, 6-foot-1, 187 pounds, attended the Tigers' Senior Mini-Camp in June and left with them among his favorites. As Smith prepares for the North-South All-Star basketball game in Birmingham next week, as well as football camps later this month at Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, the three-star prospect continues to have high interest in Auburn.
"I have always liked Auburn, but I've been getting to know Coach (Scot) Loeffler more since the camp and that has really helped," Smith said of Auburn's first-year offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. "I stay in contact a lot with Coach Loeffler and have developed a good relationship with him."
Smith said he learned from Loeffler during his time at camp and continues to get tips from the Tigers' OC as the season draws near...
