Making the Grade: Defense/Special Teams

When evaluating the needs on the defensive side you have to not only look at the ratings of the prospect but also if they can contribute immediately. For the 2013 class the Mountaineer staff was able to find the right combination of quality with guys who are ready to make an impact now. One of our favorite observations about the 2013 class is how 'college ready' the prospects physically appear to be versus prior West Virginia recruiting classes.

Of the 28 prospect who committed (25 of which who are officially signed) 12 of them are on the defensive side and of course one scholarship spent on special teams.
