Recruiting Analysis: Tight End/3-Back

Arizona State will lose its starting tight end and 3-back after the season. It is reasonable to expect the Sun Devils to target players who could fill both of those vacancies.

Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Tuscaloosa Academy

Brown is an undervalued recruit with his current two-star rating. He is listed as linebacker but Arizona State is recruiting him as a 3-back. He claims thirteen scholarship offers and said that ASU is one of the schools recruiting him the hardest.

Dixon is the No. 11 tight end and No. 28 overall prospect in California according to Rivals.com. In July, he put ASU in his permanent top-five with Miami, Oregon and presumed co-leaders UCLA and USC.

McNeil, a former Rivals250 Alabama and LSU commitment, recently told Rivals.com that his top three schools are Arizona State, Florida and Miami. He is also hearing from Florida State, Indiana, Kansas, UCLA and USC.

Three Stars

Portland (Ore.) Jesuit

Mondeaux, the No. 3 player in Oregon, claims over a dozen BCS offers. He is being recruited as a tight end, defensive end and as a linebacker. Arizona State likes him on offense. He might be tough to get out of the northwest.

Murphy-Richardson can play outside linebacker, defensive end or tight end in college. He converts speed to power and has great range for his size. His size 17 shoe indicates he has more room to grow. Arizona State would try him first at 3-back to start out.
