Hawks eye Butler

While the Iowa coaching staff still has offers out there at running back, namely to Treyvon Hughes, Chris James, and Markel Smith, they are also keeping a close eye on Illinois native James Butler this fall. In fact, with a bye week on the schedule this past weekend, Hawkeye running backs coach Chris White was in the Chicagoland area to watch Butler play in person on Friday night.

"Iowa was there and Nevada was too," said the 5-foot-9, 195-pound Butler. "I did all right. I think had 131 yards and two touchdowns. We should have won the game though. We lost 20-23 to Marmion."

The loss on Friday dropped Butler's team, St. Francis, to 3-4 on the season. Through seven games, the two-star prospect has rushed for an impressive 941 yards and 14 touchdowns.
