Fitch trio headlines Passing Camp roster
Football fans in Northeast Ohio might want to head out to Berkshire High School in Burton on Saturday. The Division V school will host the 2011 OhioVarsity.com/Elvis Grbac Passing Camp from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Over 50 high school prospects from two states are scheduled to compete in the event, co-hosted by OhioVarsity.com and former Cleveland St. Joseph standout Elvis Grbac, who played collegiately at Michigan then had a career in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.
Grbac will work with over 20 of Ohio's up-and-coming high school quarterbacks while Pickering Central assistant coach Jason Roach will coach the defensive backs. All four of Roach's starters during the 2010 season signed letters of intent in February to play at Division I college programs, including Eilar Hardy (Notre Dame) and Tamani Carter (Michigan).
Despite the coaching staff's impressive resume, it's the attendees scheduled to work out at the camp that will have football fans eager to attend.
Led by a trio of Austintown Fitch prospects, several of the campers already have drawn verbal scholarship offers from top Division I college prospects.
William Mahone, ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 78 prospect in the country and the nation's No. 6 running back, likely will work out with the defensive backs. Mahone has been offered by dozens of colleges, including Notre Dame, Penn State and Michigan State.
Twin brothers Chris Davis and Demitrious Davis also have their fair share of offers.
Here's a look at the competitors at each position:
Zach Bernhard, Ashland (2012)
WIDE RECEIVERS/TIGHT ENDS
Hollis Alexander, Canton McKinley (2013)
Nick Bonacci, North Royalton (2012)
