Thompson picks up a big offer
Quinn Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end from Pennsylvania. Then came an offer from Boston College. That was a key moment in Thompson's life and he loves the door that has opened up.Ohio was the first school to offer
Of course, Boston College already has a soft commitment from Andrew Isaacs but with the four-star prospect still looking around the Eagles can't rest easy.
Thompson was only targeted by the quarterback at Edinboro (Pa.) General McLane three times last year. Twice he scored touchdowns and the other pass was intercepted.
To date he's been more of a blocker but he has the tools to develop into a nice pass catcher in college.
He told EagleAction.com that BC offered last Monday, just a few days after the offer from Ohio came in.
"I was definitely really excited," Thompson said of the BC offer. "It's sort of a bigger school and you're playing against big competition. It was just big for me.
"Coach Commissiong came down about a week or two before he offered me so they had been interested. I'm definitely going to come down either after my track season's over or after the school year."
Thompson has just two offers to date but he said 20-30 schools have stopped by his high school this spring. In other words, his name is out there and more offers may be coming.
"I would say Kent State has shown a lot of interest and Youngstown State, too," he said. "West Virginia and Maryland both want me for defensive end so that would be different. I might be getting an offer from Toledo soon."
Boston College and Ohio have both offered Thompson as a tight end.
