Pitt lands Wisconsin WR
Jester Weah committed to the Panthers.Pitt added another piece to the 2013 recruiting class on Friday when Madison (Wisc.) Memorial wide receiver
Weah, 6'3" 197, picked Pitt over offers from Colorado State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, Wyoming, Eastern Illinois, and North Dakota. He took an official visit to Colorado State in late November and visited Pitt last weekend, and the Rams and Panthers were his two finalists.
Pitt head coach Paul Chryst and offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph had been monitoring Weah since they were on the staff at Wisconsin, and they brought that interest to Pittsburgh a year ago. Weah camped at Pitt over the summer, where he worked with receivers coach Bobby Engram.
Pitt finally pulled the trigger on an offer to Weah while he was in town this past weekend, and he announced his intention to make a commitment shortly thereafter.
As a senior in 2012, Weah caught 38 passes for 799 yards and eight touchdowns, and he was named to the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association all-state team. He is the second prospect from Wisconsin to commit to Pitt, joining Oconomowoc linebacker Zach Poker, who committed earlier this week.
With Weah and Poker on board, Pitt has 27 commitments in the class of 2013 as Signing Day approaches. Weah is the fourth receiver to join the class, along with Tyler Boyd, Zach Challingsworth, and Reginald Green. Of the 27 commitments, 10 are from out of state. In addition to Wisconsin, Pitt also has commitments from recruits in the states of Hawaii, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio.
