FSU adds wide receiver to 2014 class
"Yes sir I committed earlier today," Sousa told Warchant.com.
The Seminole coaching staff was so impressed with the Lake Nona (Orlando, Fla.) receiver's spring game and highlight film that they wanted to meet him in person. So Sousa made the four hour trip to Tallahassee. That drive was well worth it as the state's No. 84 ranked player became FSU's 11th commitment for the 2014 class.
Lake Nona head coach Anthony Paradiso told Warchant.com that the decision wasn't a shocker.
"It wasn't a surprise. FSU assistant coach Rick Trickett came over here for our spring game to get a close look at Ryan and they have been interested for a while," he explained. "We have stayed in close contact with Jimbo Fisher and the FSU staff about Ryan. Every school that has watched Ryan has loved him. He is so tough to handle one-on-one."
As a junior, Sousa caught 92 passes for 1,615 yards and 21 touchdowns. In his sophomore season he had 54 catches for 842 yards and nine scores.
Sousa selected FSU over teams like Wake Forest, Boston College, UCLA, Rutgers and Missouri. He is the fourth receiver commitment for the 2014 class.
