Andersen's son headed to UW

Wisconsin's Gary Andersen will have a chance to coach his son in 2014.

Linebacker Chasen Andersen, who was thought to be headed to BYU this summer, announced Wednesday that he will join the Badgers as greyshirt and will arrive on campus in January.

"I will grey shirt this season," Andersen tweeted. "Rehab and train in Wisconsin. I respect BYU football in every way and thank them! Enough talk about me."

The 6-foot, 218-pound prospect in the 2013 class is coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered during his senior season at Logan High School in Utah.

"I had a good junior season where I was an all-state player and I thought I played pretty well," Andersen told BadgerBlitz.com in January. "I had some big plans for my senior year, so it was tough to go down on the first play of the first game. It shot me down a little bit but I knew that I had college ball ahead of me, so that was something I was looking forward to."

In the same interview, Chasen Andersen talked about his desire to play for his father, who is in his first season at Wisconsin.

"I've always wanted to play for my dad and that's one of the big reasons why I committed to Utah State," Chasen said. "Now that my dad's at Wisconsin, I'd like to go out there and play but I know that I can be successful at either Utah State or BYU, too. With how things have changed, it's really just my own decision at this point."

Wisconsin has one commitment from a linebacker in the 2014 class from in-state prospect Dominic Cizauskas.
