Quarterback Analysis by Ryan Abraham:

With 22 practices in the books and each quarterback throwing well over 400 total passes, it is much harder for the 20-30 attempts from a single practice to make a major impact on the QBR scores.

On Tuesday Cody Kessler had a QBR score 32 points higher than Max Wittek, but it didn't change the overall score by a significant amount. Kessler now has about a 10-point lead over Wittek, up from about 9 after Monday's practice.

The only open practice left where we can track the QBR is Wednesday's Coliseum scrimmage. However, the scrimmage will have the first and second team facing off against the scout/service team.

If Kessler's score stayed the same, Wittek would need to go 20 for 20 with 11 deep passes and five touchdowns to gain enough points to pass Kessler.

QB Notes:

  • Practice was short, sending the players almost immediately into the team periods. Even the seven-on-seven portion of practice was skipped.
  • Wittek did not throw a touchdown or an interception. He did have three passes dropped, one sack/fumble and threw a near interception to Lamar Dawson.
  • Kessler threw one touchdown and had no picks. Four of his passes were dropped, he was sacked twice and Antwaun Woods dropped a sure interception on a screen pass.
  • Wittek has 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and Kessler has 20 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
