Jordan McLaughlin picks USC
Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Etiwanda High School point guard Jordan McLaughlin has committed to USC. He made the announcement from his high school and chose the Trojans because of what the new staff is trying to develop at the Galen Center.
"Just because of the new coaches and everything they're trying to do with that program," McLaughlin said regarding why he picked the Trojans. "It's really exciting and it fits my style of play.
"They want to get up and down and score in the first eight seconds. They set a lot of ball screens, run NBA sets, they play good defense and throw lobs."
McLaughlin was a regular at USC basketball games this past year and visited USC's campus this last week. His relationship with assistant coach Tony Bland was a big help for USC.
"I've gotten to know him really well since he was at San Diego State and I'm excited to work with him."
Although he's known his college choice for a brief period of time, McLaughlin didn't wanted to make sure the time was right before making a choice.
"I'm didn't want to rush into anything and just making sure I take my time and pick the right spot for me," he said.
The four-star guard chose the Trojans over schools like UConn, Gonzaga, UCLA, Indiana, Kansas, and San Diego State. He's the No. 43 ranked player overall in the Rivals150. He's the second four-star prospect that USC has committed for their 2014 class. The last time USC basketball signed two or more four-star players was 2007.
