Day 11 slows it all down

Andy Enfield and his team came back from a day off and installed a few things on offense and defense. That caused Friday's practice to be one of the slower workouts of the new season.

What happened on day 11: "This was probably our slowest practice of the year because we did a lot of zone and half court. We worked on our zone and our zone offense. We really didn't get up and down until the end, so tomorrow will be a very intense, full court practice."

How the team did with the zone "Every time we put something new in, we put a few new concepts in and it takes a while. You cant expect as a coaching staff to have it be perfect. You give it time and repetitions and hopefully next week the stuff the did today we'll be doing at a fast pace."

What they're doing well:"I think our transition offense and pushing the basketball. They're really doing a great job of looking for the ball and running the floor. Some of the half court stuff we have to work on."

Strahinja Gavrilovic: "He was healthy and and he had a good practice."

D.J. Haley: "D.J. hopefully will be cleared next week. Cross our fingers, we don't know the plan is to see the doctor and then hopefully get him cleared."

How the team is learning what he's teaching: "We have four freshmen and new players total including two transfers that are sitting out. It's new to everybody, it's new to the returnees because it's a new coaching staff. We do a lot of teaching, trying to install a system offensively and defensively. We're very impressed with how they're able to take coaching and perform it at a very high level in a short period of time. Some teams that I've been involved with in the past, it takes long but I think this team takes the coaching and gives it back to you right away."

If Dukes is catching on since coming back: "Yeah he's fine. He's a good shooter, he's very smart for a freshman and a heady player. He'll be fine."

J.T. Terrell: "I'm very impressed with J.T.'s leadership and attitude. He plays hard and he's very unselfish. Sometimes we need him to be a little more aggressive but he's come in and said that he'll do whatever it takes to help us win and he's done that. I'm very proud of him and my expectation is that he takes that and he continues to grow as a senior player."

Younger guys becoming leaders: "I think Julian Jacobs has a lot of leadership qualities because he leads by example and I think the greatest leaders are the ones lead by example, play hard and works on their game. It's hard to follow someone that doesn't work hard or is always negative. He has a lot of great leadership qualities as a freshman. The other guys can develop that but Julian is a guard, has the ball in his hands and that's his personality unlike the other guys like Nikola (Jovanovic) or Roschon (Prince). The bigger guys are a little quieter and as they grow we expect them to do the same."

The football game: "It was great, we won the game. Anytime you win, it's exciting. i thought the fans were energized, I was energized and I really enjoyed the game. it was a high scoring game I thought we played really well. I was impressed."

How many home games he's been to: "I've been to every one. I love football."
