Eric Wright cleared of charges

According to the Associated Press, prosecutors decided to not file any criminal charges against USC cornerback Eric Wright. Wright was arrested on March 26 at a campus apartment and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday. Just hours before the arraignment prosecutors decided there was insufficient evidence to make a case.

The AP reported that district attorney spokeswoman Jane Robinson said there was insufficient evidence for filing the sexual assault charges. There was also a case for drug possession but that was dropped because a witness did not want to testify.

Wright is now a free man and should be eligible for participation with the team this fall. Wright was held out of spring ball because of the pending charges.

Student affairs will still investigate the matter and Wright could still face some form of punishment from the university or Pete Carroll.

Wright started four games last season and had two interceptions. Wright was scheduled to be the starting cornerback for the Trojans this fall.
