Maximus Gibbs was one of the more impressive offensive linemen at the Rivals Camp Series Los Angeles showcase last month, so it's no surprise that his remaining top contenders list includes some of college football's biggest names.

Gibbs released his "Final 7" on Twitter on Saturday evening, including USC along with Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska and Arkansas.

He then talked to TrojanSports.com at length about where things stand and when a commitment decision might be coming.

"Me and my mom were talking about which schools I can see myself being at in the future, what the bond was, where I fit there as playing for a team and going to the college and feeling safe at home," Gibbs said of trimming down his list. "I'll be committing soon to a school I feel safe at and [where] I can get opportunities."

Gibbs said he knows in his mind what that school will be, but he doesn't know for sure when the announcement will come, suggesting it could be two or three weeks away.
