Chuma Edoga is a Trojan

Powder Springs (Ga.) four-star offensive lineman Chuma Edoga made a big announcement Monday in a very low-key way.

The Atlanta Rivals Camp MVP committed to USC via Twitter Monday night over Georgia, Tennessee, Stanford and Texas A&M, giving the Trojans their fourth commitment of the 2015 class.

"The most important factor was getting the best of both worlds in academics and athletics," said Edoga. "I think USC is very strong in both areas.

"I loved the academic tour at USC. I want to study Aero Astronautical Engineering so I can design planes. The staff had a great presentation and showed me how the internships programs work at USC and how the connections in the area help their students. That was the most important part of my trip there for me and my mom."

Edoga's unofficial visit this spring also gave him and his mother a chance to meet the USC coaching staff in the middle of spring football.

"My mom loved Coach (Steve Sarkisian) and Coach (Tim) Drevno," said Edoga. "Tennessee is a great school, and my mom liked Georgia, but we were both o the same page with USC.

"I was originally going to commit on my birthday, but I decided to hold off and really think it through. I just felt USC had everything I wanted, so I didn't need to wait any longer."

Beyond campus life, Edoga also felt the pace of life in Los Angeles met his disposition.

"I've always loved California," Edoga said. "Growing up I could always see myself living up there. I was always a big USC fan growing up too. I have my aunt and uncle in Fresno, so family wise, it's close in a way.

Of course, with Edoga's commitment coming so early in the process, many fan bases have been vocal about how little the pledge really means. Edoga takes offense to that talk.

"This wasn't a hasty decision," said Edoga. "People have no idea what they're talking about when they say I'm just going to de-commit.

"This was about what school fit me best academically and athletically. There's allt that went into this decision. I'm still taking my official visits to Stanford, Georgia and Texas A&M, but I have no intention on de-committing."

Rivals National Recruiting Director, Mike Farrell, doesn't see Edoga de-committing either.

"This is a really good kid, who has his head on straight," said Farrell. "When I spoke to him about his decision to commit, he was adamant about sticking with USC.

"A lot can happen in eight, nine months, but he didn't make a decision based on superficial factors. He really seems all in on USC."
