If you were at all dissatisfied with USC’s win against Arizona this past weekend, you’re not alone. Tailback Aca’Cedric Ware is with you. In fact, he has a message for you:

“That wasn’t Trojan football.”

USC left a lot of points on the field in the first half despite jumping out to a 17-0 lead. By the time the game was over, only four points separated the Trojans and Wildcats. Some players felt like it should have been 40.

“There a lot of shouldas. We should have done a lot of things. We didn’t do them,” Ware said. “We got to get better. We’re trying to win the Pac-12. We just got to keep getting better. No relax. No relaxation. You can’t step off the gas.”

Ware is one of few USC seniors on offense, which has experienced the greatest performance swings on the team. Without a veteran quarterback or naturally vocal leader, Ware has taken on a more active role than ever before. Even after posting career-best marks of 173 yards and two touchdowns last week, he was hardly content.

“I’ve always been a big critic on myself so I feel like I could have done a lot better,” he said. “There were a few runs I thought I should have taken to the house.”

Speaking of home affairs, Ware surprised many when he spoke out moments after the Texas loss, rebuking the team for how it had been practicing. It was an indictment on the players -- himself included -- as much as the coaches.

“I was a little mad and I let my emotions get the best of me, which is why I said what I said,” he said. “I was fed up, that’s all it was.”
