Five-star is thinking USC trip

USC is targeting some of Florida’s top talent in the 2017 class, especially prospects being groomed at Trinity Christian HS in Jacksonville.

On Tuesday, USC assistant coach Keynodo Hudson offered scholarships to three players from that school, five-star cornerback Shaun Wade, and also wide receivers Derrick Smith and D.J. Matthews

TrojanSports.com caught up with Wade, the 6-foot-2, 179-pound Ohio State commit. He’s excited that USC is showing interest.

“That’s a big offer, going all the way across the country, that’s something different to do and my family’s never gotten over there so that’s like a big thing for me right there,” Wade said.

Wade admits that he isn’t too familiar with USC, but he’s willing to do his research on the school.

“I really don’t know a lot because that’s all the way on the other side, so I’m looking forward to taking a visit out there and getting to learn some of the stuff about it,” Wade said.

He’s thinking about potentially seeing USC’s campus twice.

“I’m thinking about the summer and a official visit, I’m thinking about doing both of them,” Wade said.

There’s also some added intrigue because USC is after two of his teammates.

“It’s a big offer for all three of us, we look forward to getting the same offers and I’ve always liked the California schools,” Wade said.

Wade is committed to a powerhouse program, as is Matthews, who’s committed to Florida State. But despite that, Wade thinks USC could be a good fit for him and his teammates.

“I think it would be a good fit for me, me, Derrick and DJ, we all want to go to the same school so we’re going to all look at that school together, probably take that visit together,” Wade said.
