With only seven passing attempts during Friday's scrimmage, Max Wittek ended his recent surge and fell further behind Cody Kessler in the QB-Ratings.
Quarterback Analysis by Ryan Abraham:
Official stats from the scrimmage had Kessler going 20-of-28 for 231 yards while Wittek was 2-of-7 for just 15 yards.
We had Wittek getting all of his reps with the first team offense and against the first team defense. Kessler had more than half of his reps with the second string offense and against the second string defense.
Max Wittek was sacked three times and Cody Kessler was sacked twice. For our QBR calculations, that gives Wittek three and Kessler two "extra" incompletions.
Wittek had been steadily closing the gap with Kessler, pulling to within 4 points after Thursday's practice. But after the scrimmage, Kessler opened up nearly a double-digit lead.
With only a handful of attempts, Wittek's overall QBR only went down a couple of points. But Kessler's 19 completions and three touchdowns gave his score a significant boost.
Overall Wittek has 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Kessler has 17 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
