Over with Hill

It didn't take long before Boise (Idaho) defensive end Don Hill was convinced that USC was the place for him.
Before even arriving in Los Angeles, Hill felt on paper that cardinal and gold might be his favorite colors.

"I kind of knew I might commit," said Hill. "I really liked SC a lot, but I wanted to make sure by visiting and seeing everything for myself.
"It exceeded my expectation in everyday. I just felt like it was the right fit for me. The visit went great."
Hill, who was a part of Steve Sarkisian's 2014 recruiting class at Washington, is being brought in at USC as a defensive end hybrid. At 6-foot-3, 240-pounds, he plans on expanding the role already in place as the Trojans used more 3-4 formations in their defense a season ago.
"The coaches sat down with me and we talked about how they want to use me with my hand down and standing up playing some linebacker," said Hill. "It's really the same plan they had for me at Washington."
The exact moment when Hill knew USC was for him is hard to place, but walking into the Coliseum Saturday night certainly is an experience which summed up his excitement for his future as a Trojan.
"Man, going into the stadium, I just got that feeling I can't describe," said Hill. "It just hit me when I was down on the field. It was incredible."
Hill will be arriving at USC much sooner than the majority of the 2014 class. Hill will enroll at USC next month, making him one of four midyear grads expected to sign with USC next week.
However, coming off a rupture of his Achilles tendon earlier this season, Hill does not expect to be on the field until sometime next summer.
"I think the plan for me is to continue my rehab process throughout most of spring ball," said Hill.
Hill was recruited to USC by new linebackers coach, Peter Sirmon, and defensive backs coach Keith Heyward. Being from the Northwest, Sirmon and another Trojan made Hill feel much at home.
"Me and Zach Banner created a good relationship and really gelled," said Hill. "He was my host and we talked a lot.
"I think everyone here is really excited to have Coach Sark back."
