Trojans get two Saturday

Long Beach (Calif.) four-star wide out Rahshead Johnson has been waiting a long time for the events that unfolded Saturday.
While USC fans were rejoicing over the commitment of four-star tight end Bryce Dixon at the Army All-American Bowl, Johnson swooped in to become commitment No. 16 for USC in the class of 2014.

Saturday afternoon, USC offered Johnson a scholarship - a long awaited scholarship.
"Coach Sark offered me about 20 minutes ago and I accepted," said Johnson. "They were telling me to hold tight, and that I would get the offer in January.
"When I finally got it today, I committed. You know, it's just crazy. I never thought I would get to go to USC. I always thought I was going to go to Washington, but once I got that offer, I felt really good about it.
"Most of all, I love Coach Sark, and I think I can get to the league from USC. Those were two big things for me."
Johnson, rated as the No. 13 player in the state by Rivals.com, has always been projected to play wide out in college. At 5-foot-10, 175-pounds, his speed and quickness may actually help the Trojans of the defensive side of the ball.
"I told [Keith Heyward] that i would like to play defensive back," said Johnson. "I haven't really talked to Coach Tee Martin about that. I feel like, just to get on the field, they already have some receivers.
"They need DBs, and that's why the DB coach is really on me. I mean, I haven't been scored on in three year as a cornerback. I just noticed that. My coverage skills are good and I have the speed."
Of course, the former Washington commit also spoke to Steve Sarkisian about his possible involvement in the evolution of the Trojans offense to more three and four receiver sets.
"Yeah, Coach Sark was talking about using me just like they were going to at Washington," said Johnson. "He talked about moving me around and using me in the slot. Basically, I'm an athlete."
As of now, Johnson is ready to put the recruiting process on ice and focus on being a Trojan.
"There isn't much time to squeeze in visits and everything, so I'm pretty much done with the process," said Johnson. "Coach Sark was really happy today, and he thinks I'm going to be a great player there.
"Knowing the coaches, I touched them. We've bonded and when they went to USC from Washington, I was just waiting on them."
USCFootball.com will have more on this breaking commitment later in the week.
