Taking the Colts to the City Title game in his first season, Asante has a new project on tap.
Feb. 25, 26 and 27 he will hold the first Asante Elite Quarterback Camp in Carson (Calif. ). The camp will focus on instructing quarterbacks on the finer points of leadership, poise and efficient film study.
"The quarterbacks we have coming are guys that have the opportunity to get to the next level if their focus is in the right place," said Asante. "We want to help them defining their path so they can capitalize on their talent."
Notable quarterbacks expected to take part in the three day event are Travis Wilson of San Clemente (Calif.), Shane Dillon of El Cajon (Calif.), Dylan Lagarde of Los Alamitos, Derrick Stuart of Long Beach (Calif.) Cabrillo and Troy Williams of Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne. Asante Elite Quarterback Camp.
Fresno (Calif.) quarterback Mike Baker, Temecula (Calif.) quarterback Matt Morin, Los Angeles (Calif.) quarterback Hayden Rettig and Rocklin (Calif.) quarterback Jake Rodrigues have also been invited to take part in the event.
"This camp is about film work, footwork and confidence," said Asante. "I've coached at the USC Rising Stars Camp, camps at UCLA and other colleges. We have to bring the important fundamentals of the game and combine them with game day speed.
"Quarterbacks can look great in drills and have all the technique of throwing the football down, but lose all of that when the pads go on. We want to really teach up the confidence and leadership aspects of playing quarterback at this camp."
To help increase the game speed for the camp, Asante will incorporate the route running and skill of some of the areas top wide receivers and defensive backs, including USC commits Jaydon Mickens of Dorsey, and Darreus Rogers of Carson.
