USC landed a commitment Wednesday from local 4-star 2021 ATH Anthony Beavers -- the Trojans' seventh commitment overall in this class.
Beavers, who played for Narbonne High School last season, is ranked the No. 10 ATH and No. 171 overall prospect in the class.
He, along with recent safety commit Xamarion Gordon, help fill a key need for the Trojans in this recruiting cycle as defensive back is a priority after the program came up empty at both cornerback and safety in 2020.
Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Gorney delivers his scouting report on Beavers and what the Trojans are getting in the talented local standout:

What it means for USC
As noted, USC needed to reload on both safeties and corners. Beavers has been told he'll play the "Joker" role in Todd Orlando's defense that has been described as a hybrid safety-linebacker position. A good example would be former Texas standout DeShon Elliott, who played that position for the Longhorns under Orlando, and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens.
Elliott had 63 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 6 interceptions, 9 pass breakups, 3 forced fumbles and 1.5 sacks his last season with the Longhorns.
"[The role is] really just to make plays. I believe I can make plays. It's just a play-making position," Beavers said.

What jumps out about Beavers as a prospect?
Gorney: "It's really hard to kind of give a complete analysis on him because he hasn't done a whole lot the last few months.
