For the third time this week and the sixth time in a little over a month, USC landed a big commitment Saturday as local 4-star defensive back Calen Bullock tweeted out his Trojans decision.

Bullock, from Muir High School in Pasadena, already had a strong connection with new USC cornerbacks coach Donte Williams from the coach's time at Oregon, and after Williams joined the Trojans he quickly offered Bullock and started the process that led to this commitment.

Meanwhile, safeties coach Craig Naivar was also plenty involved in Bullock's recruitment, and he has the versatility to play multiple spots in the secondary.

We break down what his commitment means for USC, and Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Gorney gives his scouting report on Bullock.

What it means for USC

Momentum. The Trojans are on a roll recruiting-wise despite the obstacles of not being able to host or visit prospects. As noted, since March 11, they've reeled in six commitments, including three since Wednesday.

Overall, USC has nine commits now, including two Rivals100 prospects (QB Jake Garcia and OLB Ma'a Gaoteote), two more Rivals250 prospects (ATH Anthony Beavers and RB Brandon Campbell) and six 4-star prospects (including DT Jay Toia and Bullock). Beyond that, as we've covered in previous Commitment Analysis pieces, Gorney suggests that all three 3-star commits (OT Mason Murphy, OG Maximus Gibbs and S Xamarion Gordon) could push for 4-star status as well.

USC was already well into the top 10 of the Rivals recruiting rankings entering the weekend and gets another boost from Bullock's announcement, moving up to No. 6.

This also makes three defensive back commits after the Trojans landed none in the 2020 class, addressing a priority need so far.
