Impact Analysis: Kevin Scott

He's 6-foot-5, 315-pounds of pure athleticism?
I know that statement sounds like a complete and utter oxymoron, but when it comes to defense tackle Kevin Scott, that's exactly what you're getting.

The Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian high school standout played basketball for most of his life before turning to the gridiron, and a lot of those skills - speed, agility and footwork - have paid major dividends on the football field.
The three-star recruit didn't play football at Salesian during his junior season per CIF transfer rules, but as his senior season drew on and the sacks kept piling up - 17 on the season to be exact - the offers kept pouring in.
The scary thing is, this past high school season was Scott's first playing football.
Scott took visits to USC, Purdue, Miami and Ole Miss, and chose the Trojans over the Hurricanes and Rebels today, adding a strong piece to a defensive line that lacks some depth heading into next season.
USC lost two huge pieces off of that defensive line in a soon-to-be top-five pick in left defensive end Leonard Williams and also lost its rush end J.R. Tavai.
WIth that being said, the Trojans are not by any means desperate for pass-rushers who can come in and play right away.
Defensive tackle Delvon Simmons will likely return to his starting spot, and our very own Adam Maya predicted in his depth chart breakdown that Antwaun Woods and Kenny Bigelow would fill out the three-man defensive-front.
The reserves include fellow returners Claude Pelon, Greg Townsend, Cody Temple, Don Hill and Malik Dorton - all guys with more experience with incoming Scott.
But when it comes to a player with Scott's potential, there's always room for a long-term potential player.
Scott's strength is his ability to time the snap and get into the backfield before the offensive line knows what hit them.
He's a former under-the-radar recruit who is yet another big-time get at a position of need for the Trojans.
