McNair Statement on USC Contract

Todd McNair's lawyer, Scott Tompsett, has released a statement on behalf of his client regarding USC not renewing McNair's contract:
"Coach McNair and USC are separating on friendly terms. It is my understanding that this decision does not in any way indicate that USC agrees with the finding against Coach McNair. I understand USC is going to continue to work closely with me and Todd to appeal his finding and penalty."

USC originally released a statement shortly after noon on the matter:
"Todd McNair's contract expired on June 30, 2010. We have no additional comment."
A later statement was also issued:
"Todd McNair's contract with USC expired on June 30, 2010. USC's appeal of the NCAA's ruling includes an appeal of the findings and sanctions related to Mr. McNair. USC has no additional comments at this time."
McNair had been an assistant coach at USC since February 2004. He was given a show-cause penalty by the NCAA Committee on Infractions preventing him from recruiting activities for one year on June 10, 2010. He has filed a notice of appeal with the NCAA regarding the matter.
