Nwosu chooses USC

Uchenna Nwosu got a scholarship offer from USC on Oct. 5 and it took him just three days to decide that he wanted to be a Trojan.
"I just committed to USC," Nwosu said. "I was thinking about it at school all day today and I came to a decision that it was the place for me. I called coach [Tee] Martin and he was excited. He told me to call coach O [Orgeron], and when I did he was really excited too."

He and his new coaches immediately got into a deep conversation about defensive strategy.
"They welcomed me to the family and told me that they thought I was going to be a great player. Then they talked about how defensive packages, plays and how they plan to use me."
The Trojans have some interesting ideas of how to use the three-star athlete.
"I don't want to give it away but they said they said they could see me being effective on pass plays, blitzing and rushing the passer as an outside linebacker/strong safety hybrid." Nwosu said.
The Narbonne defender isn't only excited for how he fits into the defense, he's excited that he can stay close to his family while playing football.
"When I got the offer it was a huge burden off my shoulders to be able to play close to home and be around my family. When I go the offer I realized that it was huge for me and something I should take advantage of, so I made my decision based on that."
Before USC extended the scholarship offer, Nwosu thought that he might leave home for college. After getting to know his future coaches a bit, he's become more interested in staying local.
"It's not as interested in going out of state as I was before. Coach O [Ed Orgeron] and Tee Martin are big reasons why I feel that way. They're some really good coaches that I can talk to."
Nwosu will be at the Arizona game on Thursday and could possibly take other unofficial visits but USC will not get one of his officials.
"I live right down the street and I can go there anytime," Nwosu said. "I talked to the coaches to see if I can use my five visits on other schools."
He has one visit planned, to Oregon State, although he hasn't talked to their coaches about his recent commitment
"Oregon State is the only one I'm thinking about so far. I'm going to go up there when they play Washington on November 23."
Despite planning other visits, he plans to stay committed because being a Trojan means so much to him.
"It means to be a hardworking, dedicated star athlete," Nwosu said. "That's where all the stars go so I consider myself a star in the making."
He could possibly start his quest for stardom by enrolling in December, but Nwosu hasn't decided if he's enrolling early yet or not.
