Prater set to announce on Wednesday

Anticipation of Kyle Prater's announcement on Wednesday has caused the first days of September to feel more like early February.
And even though the immediate college football season is only days away, the country's No. 1 wide receiver – No. 2 nationally – has football fans thinking about the possibilities of what Prater can bring them in 2010.

There's no lack of drama surrounding the announcement, either. Prater, located in the heart of Notre Dame country, has a top five of (in alphabetical order): Illinois, ND, Oklahoma, Tennessee and USC.
For the Trojans, pairing Prater with recent verbal commitment Robert Woods would complete the most impressive duo of wideouts in the country for the 2010 Class.
And, when considering that the Trojans have missed on a number of big-time pass catchers over the past two seasons, Prater becomes an even bigger priority. Because of the lack of numbers - only one wideout in each of the last two classes - USC is poised to lose the majority of their receiving corps over the next 18 months.
Prater is no stranger to any of his remaining five programs. He made an unofficial visit to USC in early August and said that he was "amazed" by the experience, and this was after he revealed that the Trojans had a slight lead after his trip to Tennessee.
The announcement date was accelerated because Prater will graduate early from high school and enroll at his choice for the spring semester. With his body college-ready right now, combined with the experience he'll gain during spring practice, Prater appears poised to make an impact immediately.
Now the only one question remains: where will that be?
Tune into to USCFootball.com as we will have minute-by-minute updates from Prater's announcement set for 12:30pm PDT on The Peristyle, Sept. 2.
