USC has doled out a handful of quarterback offers for the 2022 class, including a couple in the last two weeks -- one in Texas, one in Georgia.

There's also still the possibility the Trojans could add another QB to the 2021 class after not taking one in 2020 -- and with depth a major potential concern moving forward -- but with 4-star standout Jake Garcia already committed in this cycle and with QBs often the prospects to make the earliest decisions, it's just as important to get working on those 2022 targets.

How does USC go about scouting and deciding which quarterbacks to put its energy into?

Doege, who joined USC last March after spending three seasons at Bowling Green (one as a GA and two as an assistant coach), played quarterback at Texas Tech from 2009-12 with his Red Raiders tenure closely following that of Trojans offensive coordinator Graham Harrell (2004-08).

And as Doege explained, he and Harrell usually tag-team the lead on quarterback recruiting efforts.

"When we FaceTime quarterbacks it's usually both of us. So right now we're doing all that stuff," he said.
