Rivals250 defensive tackle has 'awesome' USC visit

South Jordan (Utah) Bingham defensive tackle Jay Tufele made a trip out to southern California and made stops at UCLA and USC on Monday.

The nation's No. 9 defensive tackle and Rivals250 prospect talked to TrojanSports.com about his time at USC.

"USC was awesome when I went," Tufele said. "It was good because they're in spring ball. I got to see how they practice, and I really liked it. It's a great place. I love the coaches. Even with coach Sark leaving, the new head coach seems like a really good guy."

USC defensive line coach Kenechi Udeze spent a lot of time with Tufele during the visit.

"Oh man, he took me in as his own," said Tufele. "He's already trying to coach me up. He's a good guy with a lot of experience at USC and also in the NFL. I know if I was to go there, he'd treat me well."

USC is in the mix for several big time defensive lineman in the class of 2017, and Tufele is one that they're making a priority to land.

"Yeah they have. They really want me there, and I appreciate it," he said. "I really like it there. I just know that USC is a good place for me."

Tufele also plans on making visits to Ohio State and Ole Miss.
