Ross commits to USC

SAN ANTONIO - Ykili Ross has been pursued by top college programs for quite some time. USC had privately been his college of choice through most of that process. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl seemed like the perfect time to make that pledge public.
"For the next three years I'll be attending the University of … Southern California," Ross declared during the game. "It was just comfortable for me. I just loved everything about it. It's a family school and at the same time it's somewhere where I wanted to be. It's just great. I'm ready to go.

"I'll probably be playing safety a lot but going both ways and I'm just ready to get going. Trojan life forever."
The four-star prospect who could play safety, cornerback and/or receiver in college fell in love with USC early on.
"I love the school, the Coliseum and the whole atmosphere around the program," Ross told TrojanSports.com prior to announcing. "USC has great academics and a great football program," Ross said. "I didn't think I could go wrong with that decision."
Staying close to family and USC's rich football tradition were also factors.
"USC is one of those places where if you perform, you're going to play in the NFL," Ross said. "It's really nice and it's local. Being able to stay near my family is great."
But things aren't exactly over for Ross. The Trojans could still have some stiff competition for his commitment before signing day.
Ross already took his official visit to USC and he also took one to Notre Dame. But he isn't done. Despite his commitment, Ross plans to officially visit Arizona State and Oregon in January.
