Shortly after an Opening regional held by Nike in Virginia, reports started circulating that the USC Trojans led for the services of tailback Mychale Salahuddin. Media outlets even quoted the young player from Washington, DC H.D. Woodson HS saying that USC was his favorite school. But when TrojanSports.com caught up with Salahuddin this week, he said what was reported is not actually true. Salahuddin apparently doesn't have a favorite school. But he does like USC a lot.

"It's not neccessarily my top school," Salahuddin told TrojanSports.com when asked about those reports. "I have a lot of interest in a number of schools right now. But USC is definitely up there in rank."

The 5-foot-11 and 190-pounder is still in the early stages of figuring everything out. It's still a bit too early for him to name a leader.

"I really don't have favorites," Salahuddin said. "I've been talking to a lot of coaches recently. I've been talking to Nebraska a lot, Coach Reggie Davis. I've been talking to USC a lot. UNC. The coaches at Maryland, I've been talking to a lot. Michigan and Michigan State, Ohio State. I'm going to take this 'Bama visit this Sunday. Right now, I'm in the process of talking to a lot of coaches and trying to figure out who all is talking real stuff."

But it is fair to say that USC's tailback coach has impressed thus far.

"I've been talking to Coach (Deland) McCullough a lot and it's always real talk when I converse with him," Salahuddin said. "We talk about things other than football. It's just a really good relationship."

McCullough made the long trip to nation's capital more than once. When asked about visits from USC's staff this spring, Salahuddin said "they came by numerous times."

He'll repay the favor by visiting USC very soon.

"I have a visit set up for June 23," Salahuddin said.

Besides his trips to Alabama and USC, He also plans to visit Oregon while he's in the Beaver State for the Opening.

"Committing in January has always been a thought that I've thought about a lot. But if I don't plan on leaving in January and committing in December to make that January enrolling possible, I'll hold it off until (signing day)."
