Dayton, Ohio Dunbar HS tailback Tavion Thomas is ranked as three-star athlete by Rivals.com. But his list of scholarship offers screams five-star quality. He recently named his ten favorite schools and it was an impressive list. His top ten that included some of the best football programs around.

Thomas named Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, LSU, Texas, USC, West Virginia and Wisconsin as his current leaders. USC fans can thank Deland McCullough for his efforts. The Trojans made the cut because of Thomas' relationship with him.

"They've kept in touch with me and I really like the coach," Thomas said of USC. "He understands my struggles, he's been through what I've been through. So he nows me as a player and I think he'll work with me."

Thomas believes USC has been recruiting him for "two months." The Trojans extended a scholarship offer in early March and Thomas expects he'll remain a priority. He also believes USC coaches will visit his high school in the next two weeks.

While 6-foot-2 and 227-pound back admits he still doesn't know much about USC, he knows that the Trojans really want to add someone like him to their backfield.

"Big, physical, I got speed," Thomas said when asked what USC likes about him. "I can move between the tackles."

But does USC have a realistic shot of signing Thomas? Maybe and maybe not. He hopes to commit this summer. That's bad news for the Trojan faithful, as Thomas hasn't visited the campus yet.

"Hopefully, in like July or something before my season," Thomas said when asked about a commitment. "I'm going to say hopefully. Because me and my coach, we're really going to talk about it. If I feel like someone really wants me and it's someone I really trust, that's who I'm going to commit to."

Trojan coaches will know more about where they stand in the coming months. Before Thomas commits, he plans to make another list of favorite schools.

"I think I'm going to cut it another time," Thomas said.

Before Thomas makes a commitment or makes a shorter list of top schools, he also has other big plans.

"I'm supposed to go to Wisconsin in June," Thomas said. "I'm also going to name a list of schools I want to visit soon. Me and my coach will talk about it soon."

When asked if USC would be on that list, Thomas replied "yes." And even if Thomas makes a commitment in July, he'll still want to see the schools he puts on that list.

"I'll still take my official visits," Thomas said. "I want to see new places and different places."

He plans to use one of his five official visits on USC.

"I'm going to take my official visit out there," Thomas said of USC. "I just want to see how it looks. Everyone tells me that it's beautiful out there in California. And I want to see new places."
