Ask a USC fan about H.D. Woodson HS in Washington, D.C. and they might point to Rivals250 tailback Mychale Salahuddin, who recently named USC one of his top schools. But around the same time the Trojans started recruiting Salahuddin, another potential target emerged.

That target would be rangy 2018 cornerback Noah Boykin. And the 6-foot-2 and 170-pounder, despite living on the East Coast, is highly interested in becoming a Trojan. In fact, it's fair to say that he recruited USC at first.

"When it first started out, as you know, my teammate (Salahuddin), he got the offer first," Boykin told TrojanSports.com. "A coach (Deland McCullough) was out there at the school and I introduced myself, told him I was interested in being a part of USC and trying to see what that's all about. And he basically took my film back with him and got the other coaches to watch the film."

His scholarship offer from USC came in May and since Boykin pushed the staff to look into his film, he's not taking his offer lightly. He hopes to continue proving himself as a USC caliber athlete.

"It's a very big deal, especially being on this side of the country, being recognized on the other side of the country," Boykin said. "It's a big deal, so my head has to be on straight and I have to do what I'm supposed to do."

He doesn't expect to make it USC this summer but he does believe he'll eventually visit campus.

"Most likely I'm going to take an official," Boykin said.

Boykin, who USC is recruiting to play corner, plans to release a list of favorite schools before he takes that trip.

"I'm going on a bus tour on the eleventh, so probably the following week, I'm going to drop the top 10," Boykin said.

The Trojans are in good position to make his list of favorites.

"Most likely," Boykin said when asked if USC will make his top 10.

This young football star is also trying to enroll in college early. Because of that, he hopes to make a commitment during the middle or end of the football season.
