USC is actively recruiting tailbacks all across the country. In fact, scholarship offers have been going out rather frequently since Deland McCullough joined USC's staff. The Trojans almost always make a positive impression on anyone they recruit, but since none of these prospects reside in Southern California, it's hard to pinpoint who exactly considers USC a favorite.

That all changed after USC offered a scholarship to Jashaun Corbin earlier this week. It's very clear that the Trojans are a favorite for the all-purpose back from Melbourne, Fla. Holy Trinity HS.

"USC is my dream offer," Corbin told TrojanSports.com. "I've been waiting for this offer for a while. It just means a lot to know that my hard work I've been putting in, it's paying off. God gets all the glory, so I'm just happy."

The 6-foot-1 and 186-pounder says he's been very high on USC for a long time.

"Ever since I was smaller, I always really liked Southern Cal," Corbin said. "As far as I can remember, Southern Cal has always been one of my favorite teams. Just the scenery around it, it looked amazing. I'm just blessed is all I can say, I'm at a loss for words."

Corbin confirms he's not just gushing over a school who's coaches recently offered him a scholarship. He plans to visit USC's campus this summer with multiple family members.

"Their chances are really good, they're one of my top schools," Corbin said of USC. "I don't have a problem traveling out of state. As a matter of fact, we're going to get up there during the summer, me and my family. USC is definitely one of my favorite schools on my list."

This speedy four-star back expects to take that trip with his whole inner circle.

"Most likely me, my mom, my grandparents and probably my coach," Corbin said when asked who would visit USC with him.

Corbin says when his grandfather was in the military, he was stationed in California. Because of that, his uncle and aunt were born in the state and he also has cousins that live in Los Angeles. It seems very likely his trip out West will involve plenty of family.

"They're from California, they've always wanted to get back," Corbin said. "They've never really had a reason to but now since USC is recruiting me, we have a perfect reason to go back out. Plus I've never been there so I want to see something new for myself."

And while Corbin isn't from the Golden State himself, he clearly has a very positive impression of it. He also has a very positive impression of USC.

"I've never been to California before but I know California is pretty much just like Florida, just better weather, you can say," Corbin said. "And at USC, they have one of the best traditions in the entire country, a bunch of hall of fame running backs. Everyone calls it running back university and I can see why. But I really like the coaching staff over there and just the area."

Corbin says that he and the USC staff have established a relationship well before Wednesday night's talk.

"They were looking at me before," Corbin said. "They had the running back coach change and immediately, Coach (Deland) McCullough, he hit me up and we've been talking for a while, building the relationship. Late (Wednesday) night, well, late for us because we're three hours ahead over here, he gave me the offer on the phone."

McCullough first contacted Corbin around the time he was hired at USC. But Corbin believes the Trojans were possibly evaluating him long before that, because of a scholarship offer he received from Tommie Robinson at LSU.

So far, after recruiting Corbin for some time, McCullough has clearly impressed.

"I really like him," Corbin said. "He's a really cool coach but at the same time he gets his players right and ready for the season. He's sent guys to the league left and right. He's a pretty cool coach, I really like him."

Corbin expects to see McCullough at his high school during the spring evaluation period. So what should USC expect to see while watching him on that trip?

"I'm a running back that can also play receiver," Corbin said. "My main position is running back but I've played wide receiver earlier on in my high school career. So it's kind of second nature when I go out wide."

That versatility is a part of the reason why schools like USC and other traditional powers like Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Tennessee, have all made Corbin a big priority.

But with so many potential options, he's just not sure when he'll make a commitment. A list of favorite schools could be on the horizon though.

"I don't really have a top ten or whatever," Corbin said. "I'll probably decide all that towards the end of summer or towards the end of spring ball."

As for upcoming trips, Corbin might visit Tennessee for the spring game. Outside of that, he says he plans to take most of his college visits in the summer.
