2019 defensive end Stephon Wright arrived at USC's campus for a 7-on-7 tournament on Saturday without a scholarship offer. But after an impressive performance, he earned one.

"I was working out this morning, working with the coaches at this 7-on-7 thing," Wright told TrojanSports.com when asked about the scholarship offer. "Coach (Clay) Helton pulled me aside, told me he wanted to talk to me. And then he told me. He said he's going to recruit me hard and that I'm somebody they wanted."

Before seeing Wright at the camp and making a scholarship offer, USC coaches have been in contact with the 6-foot-4 and 251-pounder. He says he's been in contact with USC linebacker coach Johnny Nansen and that USC is recruiting him as a defensive end.

And now that Wright has a scholarship offer from USC, he says he's highly interested in the Trojans.

"Pretty high," Wright said when asked where USC stands for him. "The coaches there are extremely nice and they're cool. I learned more about the university than I already knew before."

Also, USC's location means something to him, living in Los Angeles.

"I pass by it everyday," Wright said. "It's something I'm used to."

He says the scholarship offer is very meaningful to him.

"To me, it was kind of like a big deal because USC has so much tradition," Wright said. "It's a great university all the way around."

So will USC be considered until he makes a commitment.

"Yes," Wright said when asked if USC is a school he would consider until he commits. "With the staff and all the history and tradition they have."

That commitment, though, won't be for some time.

"My plan is national signing day for 2019," Wright said when asked about a commitment.

As for visits after this USC camp, Wright points to a trip he'll take to the Southeast.

"Alabama and Miami next month," Wright said.
