USC defensive coordinator Alex Grinch has always been candid in discussing this Trojans defense and the rebuilding job he undertook here.

After the unit gave up 421 yards to Fresno State but continued to deliver timely sacks and turnovers in a 45-17 win, Grinch said "I refuse to believe that's the best we can play. I refuse to believe that."
